Figures include crude oil, shale oil, oil sands, condensates and NGLs. Liquid fuels from other sources such as biofuels and synthetic derivatives of coal and natural gas are excluded, as well as oil shales/kerogen extracted in solid form.
This statistic was compiled using several releases of the publication. Editions of the report prior to 2018 named the region as Europe and Eurasia, whereas later editions of the report listed Europe and CIS separately. Figures from 2018 onwards for these two regions have therefore have been added together.
CIS is an abbreviation for the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Oil production in Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States amounted to roughly *million barrels per day in 2024, down from million barrels per day in the prior year. Between 1998 and 2024, figures increased by over two million barrels per day, peaking at around million barrels per day in 2018.
