A total of 144 river basins were monitored in the last three years from 1,353 monitoring stations, 143 river basins in 2018, and 140 river basins in the years before that.
In 2022, there were six polluted rivers in Malaysia, a decrease from seven polluted rivers in the previous year. The lowest number of polluted river in the country was in 2015, with 5 rivers in total. In the same year, there were more number of clean rivers in Malaysia.
