Water is one of the most valuable resources in the world and is vital for all known forms of life. In Japan, over 98 percent of the population had access to drinkable tap water, and the average daily water consumption per capita stood at around 262 liters. The majority of tap water was supplied using waterworks, while a smaller amount was supplied with small-scale water supply systems as well as private water supply systems.
