The source added the following information; "Individual country data includes subsidiaries, which are excluded from EU aggregate. For example, at country level the subsidiary in country X of a bank domiciled in country Y is included both in data for countries X and Y (for the latter as part of the consolidated entity). In the EU aggregate, only the consolidated entity domiciled in country Y is considered. The sample of banks is unbalanced and reviewed annually."

This statistic presents the ratio of non-performing loans (NLPs) to total gross loans in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) as of March 2020, by country. Non-performing loans are those that are in default, or are close to being in default. Many standard contract terms specify that loans become non-performing after being in default for ** days, but this can vary. As of March 2020, Czechia had the lowest ratio of non-performing loans in CEE with *** percent. Lithuania and Estonia finished the bottom three with a ratio of *** percent and *** percent in non-performing loans. During the same period, the ratio of non-performing loans in Bulgaria amounted to *** percent.
