From 2012 to 2022, the total number of drug-related crimes in Sweden increased. Especially the reported cases of possession of drugs increased annually over that time period. Furthermore, there seems to have been an increase in the number of all types of drug-related offences when COVID-19 arrived in 2020. Until that year, cases related to usage accounted for the highest number of reported drug crimes, but in 2021 and 2022, the highest number was related to possession.
