This Ranking of Spanish Companies classifies the companies based on sales value, which are obtained from the individual financial statements reported by each company at the registrar Registro Mercantil, with closing dates between July of the studied year and June of the following year (12 month period).

The data base INFORMA D&B, from which the information was extracted, recolects data from multiple public and private sources such as BORME (Boletín Oficial del Registro Mercantil), BOE (Boletín Oficial del Estado), national and regional press, ad hoc research and other publications.

Figures have been rounded.

Citation formats

In 2024, Bayer Hispania ranked as the manufacturer of basic pharmaceutical products with the highest sales value in Spain, reaching 800 million euros in sales turnover. Instituto Grifols S.A., ranked second, with its sales valued at *** million euros. That year, the leading manufacturers of pharmaceutical preparations in Spain were Novartis Farmacéutica and Boehringer Ingelheim España.��

Pharmacy market

In 2020, over ** percent of the total sales in Spanish pharmacies came from prescription drugs. The OTC market accounted for almost ** percent of sales, while personal care products accounted for ��percent. Antidiabetics were the category of prescription drugs with the highest revenue, amounting to *** billion euros in 2020.��ǰ��over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, sales of eye care products exceeded��*** million euros.

Hospital market

The hospital pharmacy market in Spain has grown considerably in the last few years. In 2019, it reached **** billion euros, almost *** billion more than in 2016. The most important therapeutic areas in the hospital sector are oncology and auto-immune biologics, which together comprise ** percent of the market. The oncological market had a value of approximately *** million euros in 2019, around ** percent more than in comparison with the previous year.
