* According to INSEE, Annual Work Unit (AWU) is the unit of measurement of the amount of human labor supplied on each farm. This unit is equivalent to the work of a person working full-time for one year. A distinction is made between salaried AWUs (which may include farmers themselves or members of their families), permanent or seasonal, and non-salaried. Also considered are all the family AWU, which include the farmers and their family members contributing to work on the farm, whether they are salaried or not.
