This statistic illustrates the share of respondents who show a preference for smoky flavors in selected countries in Europe in 2016. In Spain, Italy and Poland, over a third of respondents showed a preference for smoky flavors. The share of respondents who were interested in this type of flavoring was lower in Germany and France, nonetheless the difference was not really significant as the figures are still an approximate third of respondents. This flavoring appeal has its origins in barbequing, which promotes smoke and oak flavors.
