Education spending as a share of GDP in Italy remained overall stable between 2013 and 2024. From 2013 to 2024, the government allocated financial resources for education amounting to around **** percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). However, in 2020, the figures increased to *** percent, reflecting investments in, among others, online education facilities and larger classrooms. These measures were necessary to mitigate the impact COVID-19 had on the school and university system. In 2022, the government earmarked **** billion euros for education, the largest amount since at least 1995.Ìý
