The share of direct contribution to employment of the travel and tourism industry in Italy increased gradually between 2010 and 2019. In 2010, tourism directly generated roughly five percent of all jobs in Italy. In 2019, the share of tourism's direct contribution to employment rose to 7.4 percent.
