The average number of U.S. primetime TV viewers of the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 2021 reached its all-time low since NBC acquired the rights in 1988. During the 17 days of the Tokyo Games 2021 the media company NBCUniversal reported 15.5 million viewers, which marks a 42 percent decrease from the previous Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro.
