In 2023, around 397 thousand injectable procedures and 48,603 facial rejuvenation treatments were performed in Italy. The total number of cosmetic non-surgical procedures carried out in the country amounted to nearly 495.2 thousand in 2023, after reaching its peak in 2019, with around 774.3 thousand procedures performed.Â
Procedures with injectables
The most common non-surgical cosmetic procedures were the ones carried out with the deployment of injectable products. More specifically, botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid were the most popular treatments, with roughly 194 thousand and 190 thousand procedures performed in 2023, respectively.  Â
Surgical cosmetic procedures
Regarding cosmetic interventions carried out surgically, the number peaked in 2016, when 324,989 procedures were performed, before slightly decreasing in the following years. In 2023, breast augmentation was the most popular surgical procedure. Among face and head interventions, eyelid surgery was performed the most. Pertaining to body surgery, in 2023, 26,652 liposuctions were carried out in Italy.
