This statistic shows the result of a survey on the share of social media usage by platform in Finland in 2015. In that year, the most used social media platform was Facebook, accounting for ** percent of the surveyed 15-74-year-old individuals. The second most popular platform was YouTube at ** percent.
Facebook ranked higher than YouTube with a difference of * percent. The third most popular platform, Google+, accounted for ** percent of the respondents. Most popular after Facebook, YouTube and Google+ were blogs and message boards.

Both YouTube and Google+ are owned by Google. Facebook, on the other hand, owns Instagram, which accounted for ** percent of the respondents.

Furthermore, different platforms serve for different purposes. YouTube is a channel for users to entertain their audience with video content whereas LinkedIn is seen primarily as a means to professional networking. Users of Instagram can enjoy photographs taken by their friends while Twitter users benefit from the channel's news distribution.
