In 2022, the defense budget of Finland is estimated to reach approximately 5.1 billion euros, increasing roughly 0.2 billion euros from the previous year. The HX Fighter Program accounts for the largest part of the 2022 budget with over 1,5 billion euros. It was set up to replace the current fleet of Hornets with new fighters by 2025. Payroll of the Defense Forces amounted to roughly 828 million euros, followed by cost of value added tax (VAT) with 710 million euros. The amount budgeted for military crisis management slightly increased in the shown period, with 64 million euros proposed for 2022.
