The share of non-cash transactions in Poland in the second quarter of 2023 amounted to over ** percent. At the end of 2022, Polish banks issued over **** million credit cards, maintaining a downward trend since the beginning of the year. The most significant number of credit cards were issued by PKO BP for individual customers. Payments with bank cards in Poland reach a higher value from year to year. At the end of 2022, the value of these payments amounted to over *** billion zloty. Ninety-four percent of transactions in Poland are made with debit cards. Credit cards comprise only *** percent of the market share. Nevertheless, the value of credit card payments amounted to over ** billion zloty at the end of 2022.

  Contactless payments are becoming increasingly popular in Poland. Their number at the end of the second quarter of 2023 increased by ** percent during the year and reached over ** billion zloty. The most popular mobile payment system in Poland is BLIK. BLIK is a service that appeared in Poland in 2015. It enables smartphone users to make payments in stationary and online shops by generating a six-digit code to confirm transactions. It also allows for withdrawing and depositing cash at ATMs and making immediate interbank transfers. 2023 was a record year for BLIK. The number of BLIK transactions reached over **** million.
