In 2024, male smokers outnumbered female ones in Italy. In particular, there were over 5.8 million male smokers and about 4.4 million female ones. Almost the totality of these individuals were cigarette smokers. Moreover, 7.3 million males and 4.9 million females were former smokers. Conversely, there were about 17 million females and 11.7 million males who never smoked in their life.
