The total assets of central banks worldwide increased steadily between 2002 and 2021 and dropped notably between 2022 and 2024. In 2024, the assets of central banks globally amounted to 34.1 trillion U.S. dollars, down from the peak value of 44.1 trillion U.S. dollars as of 2021.
