East Midlands, as well as South East England both had the highest proportion of employees working on a zero-hours contract among regions of the United Kingdom in 2025, at 4.2 percent, compared with the UK average of 3.4 percent. The UK area with the lowest percentage of workers on this type of contract was Northern Ireland, which had just 1.7 percent of its employees working on a zero-hours basis.
