OECD
2014
* Or latest year available.
** Figures from 2015.
For Denmark and France data are preliminary.
For Mexico, firms with 20 or more employees only. Economic units in biotechnology and nanotechnology have failed to maintain a strategy of long-term growth possibly among other things, due to the low linkage between industry and academia, and because the strategy of innovation in the productive sector is mainly the customer service department.
For the Netherlands and Sweden, firms with 10 or more employees only.
For the United States firms with 5 or more employees only. For the United States, beginning with 2013, changes in data collection and imputation processes affected the comparability of company count estimates with estimates published for prior years. At the time of this release, further research is underway to address the year-to-year volatility in company count estimates.
