* There was a break in the time series between 2015 and 2016 due to a new processing approach. Caution should therefore be taken when comparing data from 2016 onwards with data from 2015 and before. The source adds the following information: "As 2016 and 2017 use the same data processing approach, 2017 data can be compared to 2016 data without any concern. Similarly collected any data before December 2015 can be compared with any other data collected prior to December 2015 without any concern."
** Interviewing is carried out every week of the year using a face-to-face methodology. Annually, some 100,000 respondents are contacted, and any who have returned from an overnight trip within the past four weeks are asked to describe the details of that trip. Data from around 17,000 trips is collected and grossed up to provide population estimates.
