E.ON, the German electric utility service provider, reported annual sales revenue of 78.7 billion euros in 2025, down from 80.1 billion euros in the previous year. Despite this recent decline, the company’s revenue more than doubled between 2019 and 2022, largely driven by higher energy prices. These developments reflect both market volatility and E.ON’s strategic adjustments.

Investments and earnings

While revenue decreased, E.ON's cash-effective investments increased to around 6.4 billion euros in 2023. At the same time, the company reported an adjust earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of approximately 6.4 billion euros, the highest level in over a decade, indicating strong oprational performance.

Net income and industry position

In contrast, E.ON's net income declined significantly in 2023, representing a drop of more than 60 percent compared to the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to non-operating effects and a strong prior-year base. Nevertheless, E.ON remained among the leading energy utilities worldwide in terms of net income.
