* Foreign direct investment flows constitute the inflow of foreign investments into Spain through which the investor intends to obtain management control of a company (an investment of 10 percent or more of the shares grants voting rights in a company).
This statistic shows gross productive investment flows, that is, without deducting investment liquidations or divestments, and including only NON-ETVE type operations (productive).
ETVE type operations consist of investments made by Foreign Securities Holding Entities (ETVE). These are instrumental companies whose existence is due to tax optimization strategies within the same business group. This type of investment has purely fiscal purposes, so it is often also referred to as non-productive investment.
The data come from the Foreign Investment Registry (RIE) and are those declared by investors in accordance with the provisions of Spanish legislation on foreign investments.
