Supplementary notes
Foreign direct investment flows constitute the inflow of foreign investments into Spain through which the investor intends to obtain management control of a company (an investment of 10 percent or more of the shares grants voting rights in a company).
The data is based on the EY’s Global Investment Monitor (GIM) database, which records foreign direct investment projects in Europe. This database excludes joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), unless they result in job creation. Portfolio investments (investment of less than 10 percent of the shares) and financial investments are also excluded.
