The data, provisional since the second quarter of 2018, correspond to estimates from the Resident Tourism Survey of the National Institute of Statistics of Spain. Since February 2015, this has continued the Statistics of Tourist Movements of Spaniards (Familitur) from the General Subdirectorate of Knowledge and Tourism Studies of Spain.
The source considers trips as travel to places outside the usual place of residence, for any reason other than employment in a company established in the visited location, involving at least one overnight stay and a duration of less than one year.

In 2023, the average expenditure per person by Spanish tourists during their trips to the Community of Madrid increased compared to the previous year. In all quarters of 2023, domestic tourists spent at least *** euros, and the final average for the year was approximately euros per person. In 2022, tourists spent nearly *** euros on average.
