The data, provisional since the second quarter of 2018, correspond to estimates from the Resident Tourism Survey of the National Institute of Statistics of Spain. Since February 2015, this has continued the Statistics of Tourist Movements of Spaniards (Familitur) from the General Subdirectorate of Knowledge and Tourism Studies of Spain.
The source considers trips as travel to places outside the usual place of residence, for any reason other than employment in a company established in the visited location, involving at least one overnight stay and a duration of less than one year.

This statistic shows the evolution of the number of overnight stays made by Spanish tourists during their trips to the Community of Madrid from the first quarter of 2016 to the fourth quarter of 2019. In the third quarter of 2016, overnight stays by residents of Spain in the community exceeded ** million, the highest figure in the series.
