In 2020, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and all the resulting mobility restrictions, the European air industry recorded net losses of approximately ** billion U.S. dollars. 2021 was the beginning of the recovery, although air transport in the Old Continent remained in the red zone, from which it finally managed to emerge in 2022. By 2023, it achieved net profits of *** billion U.S. dollars, and these are expected to grow even further in 2024.
