This statistic represents the share of imports from Russia in the total imports in the countries of the European Union (EU) between the first quarter of 2019 and the third quarter of 2022. At the beginning of 2019, *** percent of the EU's imports came from Russia; this share gradually decreased until the second quarter of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, before rising again until the beginning of the first quarter of 2022, the period when Russia invaded Ukraine. At the end of 2022, following EU sanctions, *** percent of the total value of European imports came from the Russian neighbor.
