Citation formats

In 2022, European Union (EU) members paid more for Russian petroleum oils, natural gas (liquefied and in gaseous state), and coal than in 2021. The import value of crude petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals from Russia into the EU increased by 13.5 percent, while the value of LNG imports more than tripled year-over-year. Despite the Western sanctions on Russia over its invasion in Ukraine and the subsequent reduction in EU energy imports from Russia in physical terms, the value of these imports was higher due to higher prices of the commodities.
