Just like the share of the volume of homes sold in ÃŽle-de-France which has decreased over recent years, the share of sales of older homes in Paris fell from 21 percent in 2018 to 19 percent in 2020. The French increasingly prefer to buy in the Greater Crown area where the share of older homes sold was nearly 50 percent in 2020.
Home sales in France
In 2020, more than one million homes were sold in France, including over 865,000 in the provinces and nearly 160,000 in the ÃŽle-de-France region. Several factors such as the use of remote work or the reduction of mortgage loan rates encourage the French to move to the provinces. In fact, nearly three-quarters stated that the ability to have access to remote work was likely to encourage geographic mobility.
Commercial real estate in Paris
Despite an office vacancy rate that has increased since Covid-19, the annual rent for these buildings in central Paris has continued to rise, reaching 930 U.S. dollars in the second quarter of 2021. As for the demand for office space in the city, it was 646,000 square meters in the first half of 2021.
