Over the past few years, there has been a 4.7 percent decline in car usage in Île-de-France, according to a survey conducted by Île-de-France Mobilités and the Mobility Observatory in Île-de-France (OMNIL). The total number of car trips on a weekday, from Monday to Friday, amounted to 14.8 million in 2018, with the highest number in the inner suburbs, approximately 8.5 million daily trips.

73 percent of residents in the ÃŽle-de-France region owned a car or another motorized vehicle in 2017; however, only 26 percent of French people used their car daily as drivers in 2018, while 13 percent of the French population made their trips by bus during the same period.

Travel for people with reduced mobility in Paris

Although nine metro stations were accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM) in the City of Light in 2017 and this number has remained the same over recent years, other public transport modes have increased the number of stops and stations adapted for people with disabilities. Bus lines in Paris are also more adapted to PRM, increasing from 60 adapted bus stops in 2007 to more than 430 in 2017.
