This statistic represents the share of French people consuming at least one glass of beer, wine, or spirits each week according to the regions. A higher wine consumption is observed in the southern regions of France, with 34.8 percent of the inhabitants of Nouvelle-Aquitaine reporting drinking at least one glass of wine per week in 2017. However, the region where inhabitants drink the most wine is a region where wine culture is almost nonexistent, Brittany. Beer consumption is slightly higher in the North, particularly in Hauts-de-France and Grand-Est, but even here, it is in Brittany where the largest share of beer enthusiasts is found. The last category, spirits, includes vodka, brandies, and rum. Here, consumption is higher in the overseas departments and regions, with a peak reached in Martinique and Guadeloupe where respectively 16 percent and 15.2 percent of inhabitants drink at least one glass of spirits per week.
