La Poste and its subsidiaries form Le Groupe La Poste.
Before the postal sector was opened to competition in the 2000s, La Poste had a monopoly on the routing and distribution of mail in France, making it the historic mail operator. It is also the leading mail operator in Europe. Additionally, it is the second-largest European express parcel operator by revenue through its subsidiaries.
