Countries dumping the most plastic into the oceans in 2021
The statistic represents the amount of plastic waste discharged into the oceans by country among those discharging the most.
The Philippines clearly stand out with a plastic waste production nearly three times higher than that of the second country in this ranking, India. In 2021, the Philippine archipelago discharged more than ** tons of plastic into the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea.
It should be noted, however, that if Western industrialized countries are not in this ranking, it is partly because they are among those that export the most plastic waste to these countries.
