Olive oil has become significantly more expensive in Spain in 2023, and the situation does not seem likely to change in 2024. The reason is partly due to the shortage of the product, a result of poor harvests compared to other years. However, the price increase has not been the same in all supermarkets. While at Carrefour this type of oil cost almost ** percent more in January 2024 than during the same month of the previous year, making it the chain with the highest increase, at Mercadona the price in that same period had risen by around **** percent.
