In 2024, there were more than 20 million pets in Spain. However, among all the possible options, Spaniards clearly seemed to prefer one: the dog. Approximately 9.5 million canis lupus familiaris were registered in the Iberian country. The cat ranked second with nearly six million, while ornamental birds took third place with just over five million.
