From 2011 onwards, the island of Mayotte is included in the data.

This chart illustrates the evolution of the number of teachers in public primary and secondary education in France between 2008 and 2023. During the 2023/2024 school year, approximately 711,600 teachers worked in French public primary and secondary schools. This is fewer than in 2022, when the number of teachers was 713,570.
