This chart represents the origins of immigrant grandparents of third-generation descendants in France in 2020.

With grandparents born during the first half of the **** century who immigrated to France up until the , third-generation descendants mainly have European origins. Ninety-five percent of third-generation descendants from immigration aged between 18 and 59 have at least one immigrant grandparent born in Europe, notably in Spain, Italy, or Portugal (** percent). These proportions are lower for those under 18 years old.

The share of those with at least one immigrant grandparent born in the Maghreb increases significantly among the younger group: it is * percent for those aged 18 to 59 and ** percent for those under **.

Other origins from Africa and Asia are still very underrepresented because migratory flows from countries on these continents occurred later, after those from Europe and the Maghreb.
