A 2026 survey found that Republicans had the least trust in the media, with 52 percent of respondents describing it as either untrustworthy or very untrustworthy. By contrast, Democrats expressed higher levels of trust, with almost half of respondents saying the news was either trustworthy or very trustworthy. Independents were more divided, with the largest share saying the news was neither trustworthy nor untrustworthy.
