According to a survey conducted in 2023, the majority of Black Americans said that it is extremely or very important that journalists and reporters include all sides of the issues in the story when covering Black people, at ** percent. A further ** percent highlighted the importance of understanding the history of the issues in the story, while ** percent cited the need to personally engage with the people that they cover.Â
