In 2024, half of all new HIV infections were recorded in sub-Saharan Africa, with Eastern and Southern Africa accounting for 37 percent of all new HIV infections worldwide. Furthermore, nearly a quarter of new infections that year were attributed to the region of Asia and the Pacific.
