In 2021, the total number of prevalent hepatitis B cases in children and adolescents worldwide reached nearly 50.9 million. The highest number of prevalent cases were reported among youth aged between 15 and 19 years, at 17.3 million cases. The global prevalence of hepatitis B among children below the age of 14 was nearly three times lower in 2021 than in 1990.
