Video streaming platforms Disney+ and Netflix implied restrictions on password sharing among users. During the first week following the crackdown, Disney+ registered an abrupt increase of 27 percent in weekly first-time app installs. Installs peaked at 31 percent after four weeks from the implementation of the new password sharing limits, before declining drastically to two percent after the eighth week. Netflix experienced a gradual increase in the share of installs after imposing limits on password sharing. Installs rose from five percent in the first following week to 36 percent by the fifth week.
