Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refers to natural gas compressed to 3-4 times the density of pipeline gas, enabling its transportation without pipelines and use as fuel for vehicles or non-networked consumers.
Distribution network refers to the system of pipelines and infrastructure used to deliver low-pressure natural gas from the national transmission network to smaller consumers.
Cogeneration for industry refers to the simultaneous production of electricity and heat from a single energy source to improve energy efficiency in industrial operations.
Transmission system refers to a network of pipelines designed to transport natural gas at high pressure. The Israeli transmission system is operated by the licensed operator "Natural Gas Lines to Israel" (Netivei Gas).

Annual industrial natural gas usage in Israel 2004-2023, by supply type
In 2023, natural gas consumption by the industrial sector in Israel reached over *** billion cubic meters (BCM). This marked an increase of about * percent compared to the previous year. The primary distribution method of the resource was the direct-link transmission system. It accounted for almost ** percent of industry supply. Over the observed period, demand for natural gas in the industry sector grew rapidly, as domestic production increased.
