As of December 2023, the large majority of U.S. nursing homes did not meet the minimum hours per resident day (HPRD) of the federal staffing mandate. The staffing requirement specifies **** nurse aide hours per resident day (HRPD), **** registered nurse HPRD, with **** over HPRD. For-profit nursing homes were least likely to meet the staffing requirement compared to non-profit and government nursing homes.
