Top regulatory challenges faced by PE firms implementing ESG in Europe 2023
The vast majority of challenges experienced by private equity (PE) firms implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in Europe were related to transparency. Over ** percent of PE firms felt that stakeholder expectations were unclear, additionally almost ** percent of firms felt data made available from portfolio companies was limited. The scale of ESG related regulatory activities was also seen as a major theme, as ** percent of firms felt ESG reporting was a high burden and ** percent of PE firms felt there were too many regulations to follow.
