Respondents were asked from the deals completed in the last year what portion had ESG as a one of the primary drivers of value creation.Â
Survey respondents were made up of general or limited partners located across 22 countries and territories across Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.Â

As of 2023, the use of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) elements as a primary driver for value creation in private equity (PE) deals was prevalent. Almost **** of respondents noted ESG being a primary source of value creation for ** percent to 100 percent of all deals made in the previous year. Roughly half of respondents stated ESG created value for a portion of deals, ranging from *** percent to ** percent.
