Energy cost comparison for passenger cars in Germany 2025
In 2025, electric vehicles were the most cost-effective to drive among small, compact, mid or upper class cars. This finding resulted from an analysis of energy costs for passenger vehicles in Germany in May 2025, based on the price of energy required for 100 kilometers of driving. The study calculated these costs using average consumption figures of the most popular models in each category and current energy prices. For small or compact electric vehicles, energy costs averaged around **** euros per 100 kilometers and around **** euros per 100 kilometers for mid to upper class cars.
