In 2022, the mining industry in the European Union (EU) had a net turnover that amounted to 173.57 billion euros. Of that amount, the crude petroleum and natural gas extraction subsector accounted for nearly 101 billion euros. In comparison, metal ore mining accounted for 16.6 billion euros of the total turnover.
