In 2022, around 515.2 gigawatts of conventional hydropower were in the project pipeline, scheduled to come online between 2022 and 2037. Of this 515.2 gigawatts, Asia accounted for 311.2 gigawatts, representing approximately 60 percent of the total planned capacity.
