In 2022, Africa had approximately 60.8 gigawatts of conventional hydropower in the project pipeline, planned to come online between 2022 and 2037. A significant portion of this planned capacity is concentrated in Ethiopia, which represents 25 percent of the total. The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Nigeria follow, contributing 16 percent and 11 percent of the planned capacity, respectively.
